Hello beautiful,
In my previous blog post, I talked about
Trusting the Universe, and looking for the gift in disguise when life don’t seem to go the way we wished or hoped for.
In this blog post, I would like to talk about:
Being who you are.
In this Month of Pride, and as an ally, I would like to dedicate this blog post to the LGBTQIA Community.
So many times, we worry about what others will think about us that we’re afraid to show the world who we are. We are ashamed of our struggles, of our uniqueness.
As social creatures, we try to fit in and belong. It is a basic survival mechanism, that served us well, especially when we were young, more vulnerable and had less available resources. But to keep hiding, is a double-edge sword.
When we cover our uniqueness and our beauty from the world, we lose twice: We lose ourselves, and the world loses us.
There are 7 billion people on the planet. Each one of us is unique. No one has the exact same fingerprints, or the same combination of talents, experiences, struggles, triumphs, passions, family, friends, beliefs, loves, actions, nor our mind, soul and spirit.
I have to admit, that when I relocated with my family to the San Francisco Bay almost 7 years ago, I was a little bit concerned how my life will be like as an immigrant in a different country.
I feel humbled and blessed to live in a place that celebrates diversity of individuals and groups coming from various cultural, linguistic, and religious backgrounds, as well as sexual orientations and gender identities.
Oscar Wild said: "Be yourself, everyone else is already taken".
Don’t compare yourself to others and think that you are not as good as others, only aspire to be a better version of yourself.
Be who you are.
Own your uniqueness.
Walk with pride,
and share your gifts with the world.
And remember, just as you are unique, everyone else is. So come with an open mind to people that are different than you, and respect others for who they are. Your life experience will be so much enriched because of that.
I would also like to share this beautiful song by Jordan Smith “Stand in the light”
that may inspire you with its lyrics, melody and videography.
